Case Study: Wymeswold Court

"I already got feedback from the social workers and they find the new signage advantageous to our service users for their daily needs and also it will make it easy for them to use the home's facilities. However we still have not got an inspection from CSCI so they still have not seen our new signage.

The result of our Dementia Awareness Evening was fantastic. I let them wander around the home for them to see our new signage and explained to them the purpose of the signage. I received a lot of comments that the signage is very nice, very bright and colourful, which then helps the service's users, especially ones with dementia, to distinguish which room is for which purpose.

The signage at Wymeswold has proven to be very beneficial to our service users, especially the ones who are incontinent as they can quite clearly ascertain which is the bathroom and the red toilet seats make it easier for them to distinguish which is the room they need to use to go to the toilet.

As for the bedroom signs, all the relatives love the idea and they are now sending us photos of the service users in their younger days and ones of particular reminders of happier days with families etc for us to put into the space provided.

In general social workers, friends, families and visitors have stated that they had not seen such signage before and though that it was very beneficial to our services users activities of daily living."

"You see the smile on Helen's face when she goes to her room and sees her picture on the door, she knows straightaway that it's her room. I think it's a brilliant idea."
