Find Shortlisted as Finalist in The Dementia UK Awards

We are pleased to announce that we have recently been nominated for the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Dementia Award' in this year's Dementia UK Awards, organised by Stirling University

The award recognises outstanding contribution made in the field of dementia care and will be presented at York Racecourse on 15th September 2009 at a Gala Dinner.

The Dementia UK Awards are a celebration of innovation and good practice and are designed to recognise organisations and individuals who have worked to improve the quality of life of people with dementia.

We have been nominated for our signage and communication system that is proving highly effective for people suffering with cognitive impairments commonly associated with the illness. Indeed, care homes that have worked with us have seen residents achieve significant improvements in continence, weight gain and a substantial reduction in the use of sedation.

Suzanne Wightman of the South West Yorkshire Primary Care Trust, who nominated Find, said: "We have implemented FIND's dementia signage in a number of locations. The benefits have been significant and have greatly improved the quality of life for residents."

"You see the smile on Helen's face when she goes to her room and sees her picture on the door, she knows straightaway that it's her room. I think it's a brilliant idea."
